Time spent by visitors on Google+ stagnates [Google+ News]


The amount of time US users spend on Google's social site Google+ has grown more slowly in recent weeks, according to Experian Hitwise, indicating that the service may struggle to make headway against Facebook Inc.


Users on average spent 5 minutes and 47 seconds on Google+ during the week ended on August 27, up about 4 percent from the previous week, according to Experian Hitwise, which tracks internet statistics. Time spent on the site peaked in the week of July 16, at 5 minutes and 50 seconds.


While Google+ offers several good features for sharing content with selected friends, it seems not to be good enough and in fact, it's not a strong reason for people to make them tempted to move to Google+ from Facebook as Facebook offers the same as well. The other reason which is very much considerable is the network of people that has already been established by the users over the years, as they don't want to lose it for a newbie Google+ where they fear that they need to start from bottom to build such humongous network. 


US visits to Google+ fell 5.5 per cent to 1.16 million during the week ended August 27, after rising 2.6 per cent the previous week, according to Experian Hitwise. Noticeably, Google+ had gained 283 per cent the week ended July 16.



Interestingly, the most of the current users on Google+, especially from the country like India, they are either web developers or tech savvy and tech enthusiasts who loves the change or who would love to share his own website on as many social networks as possible to popularize his/her website/blog. Google+ is yet another Social Site for them. to deal with!


According to some normal user reviews from India, one can find that the users are seeing Google+ nothing more than the Orkut remake. And as Facebook offers almost all the services that the Google+ have, people are not really willing to move to Google+ from Facebook.


What Google Says?


Google says, "This is a limited field trial", it says. "Early reactions from people who have used the service seem very, very positive. But we are talking about the service that hasn't been widely opened up, that most consumer can't get access to."


Experian Hitwise's research methods, does not include Mobile users or times when people access the service from the black bar across the top of Google.com.
